Our Core Objective
Why Aba State?
Education & Research
The region hosts top institutions including Rhema University, Abia State Polytechnic, Veritas University, National Institute for Nigerian Languages, and several colleges and research centers, making it a hub for education and innovation.
Agriculture
Known as the food basket of the East, Aba State produces cassava, yam, banana, plantain, palm oil, cocoa, kola nut, and more. Vast palm plantations and forests across Ukwa, Ngwa, and Obingwa LGAs contribute significantly to local revenue.
Economic Viability
Aba State can thrive on its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) without depending on federal allocations. The region historically contributes the majority of Abia State’s IGR, reflecting its strong economic base.
Massive Manpower
Aba State boasts a large pool of skilled professionals—engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, artisans, and academics—ready to drive industrial and social development.
Commerce & Industry
Aba is Nigeria’s industrial powerhouse, home to Ariaria International Market, major industrial layouts, and hundreds of small and medium enterprises. It leads in leather, fashion, metal fabrication, and manufacturing, fueling jobs and trade across West Africa.
Electricity
The Geometric Power Plant in Osisioma ensures stable electricity supply, empowering industries and households across the proposed state.
Oil, Gas & Solid Minerals
With over 120 oil wells, abundant gas reserves, and solid minerals like zinc, lead, gold, and silica, Aba State has the natural resources to sustain rapid growth and industrialization.
Infrastructure & Connectivity
Aba State enjoys strategic road and transport networks, linking it to major cities like Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Umuahia. Ongoing improvements in road construction, telecommunications, and logistics make it a prime location for trade, tourism, and investment.
